Project description

This project delivers a policy‑relevant, technically robust report with recommendations for calculating methane intensity at producer level for crude oil, natural gas, and coal placed on the EU market, in support of the implementation of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/2359 and the EU Methane Regulation. The work aims to define transparent, non‑discriminatory, and operationally feasible methane intensity methodologies that reflect the diversity of production processes and site conditions across supplying regions, while promoting measurable, verifiable, and sustained methane emission reductions across global energy supply chains serving the Union market.
