Project description

The assignment involved supporting EDF in refining methane emissions estimates for a portfolio of 20 National Oil Companies (NOCs) worldwide. Carbon Limits developed a tiered methodology based on the level of engagement with each NOC, ranging from direct data sharing to desktop studies using public data and satellite observations. The project included the development of a flexible emissions estimation model, engagement with NOC experts, and the delivery of a comprehensive report with emissions ranges, methodology, and data quality indicators. The work supported EDF’s broader objective of linking environmental performance to financing in the oil and gas sector and provided actionable insights for methane mitigation strategies
