Market Perspectives of Bio-CCS Carbon Removals

Project description
Bio-CCS is the capture and permanent storage of CO2 from biogenic origin. Bio-CCS projects where the volume of biogenic CO2 captured and permanently stored is larger than the volume of CO2 emitted during biomass production, transportation and utilization, can generate negative CO2 emissions or CO2 removals (CDRs), which can be sold in the carbon markets.
Client approached Carbon Limits to give perspectives on how the market for carbon removals from Bio-CCS is expected to emerge. Carbon Limits listed the existing and announced Bio-CCS projects in Europe and the US; estimated the size of the Bio-CCS potential; assessed the current regulatory, normative and market frameworks applicable to credits generated by carbon dioxide removals (CDRs) from Bio-CCS projects; analyzed perspectives of development of the relevant regulatory frameworks; performed an analysis of the future supply, demand and prices for CDR.
