Project description

Carbon Limits supported UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) through a global project focused on capacity building, technical support, and stakeholder engagement. The initiative included the delivery of IMEO’s Methane Mitigation Training Series in both virtual and in-person formats, with materials adapted to local contexts, as well as the development of additional modules, including a module on methane emissions from metcoal. A digital alumni network was established to maintain engagement among government and national oil company representatives.

In parallel, Carbon Limits supported the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) by developing technical guidance documents, conducting an independent audit of the initiative, and facilitating discussions around verification principles for methane reporting.

These activities aim to strengthen the ability of countries and companies to monitor and manage methane emissions using internationally recognized practices.
