Global Methane Hub- Country Engagement

Project description
A broad program designed to support governments and national oil companies to reduce methane emissions, over 4 different countries in Central Asia and North Africa (Algeria, Kazakhstan, Libya and Uzbekistan). The project aims to provide local stakeholders with the tools to drive their methane emissions reduction programs and take them to the next level, no matter where their starting point is situated.
Through this project Carbon Limits first identifies and engages with relevant local stakeholders to then provide them with the tools they need to develop and implement their methane emissions reduction program. The project covers a diverse set of activities, tailored to the stakeholders’ needs, and includes capacity building, development of inventory and roadmaps, analysis of mitigation strategies, measurement campaigns, regulatory reviews and assessment of international cooperation options.
In Kazakhstan, the scope of our support extends to Coal Mine Methane (CMM) emissions, where we are assisting with the development of a national CMM inventory, an assessment of abatement potential and associated costs, as well as delivering dedicated capacity-building sessions for regulators and operators on methane monitoring, reporting, and mitigation in the coal mining sector.
