Training description

This module focuses on how satellite data can be translated into practical methane mitigation opportunities.

Content: The module presents examples of common emission sources, including flares, pipelines, and storage tanks, and discusses potential mitigation pathways ranging from simple operational improvements to larger infrastructure investments and gas recovery projects. Participants will also examine the challenges associated with moving from satellite detection to a mitigation decision, including uncertainties in source attribution, root-cause analysis, and site-specific considerations. The module highlights the importance of continuous monitoring, collaboration with operators, and follow-up verification to ensure that mitigation measures are effective and sustainable.

Format: This module can be delivered in-person or virtually.
