Project description

Carbon Limits developed, and together with UNEP's IMEO and EDF, delivered a technical training programme for stakeholders in Uzbekistan on satellite-based methane detection, source identification, mitigation, and inventory improvement. The work included customised training materials, practical exercises, and guidance on responding to methane alerts and using satellite observations in decision-making.

Using examples from Uzbekistan, the training demonstrated how satellite data can support source attribution, emissions mitigation, and improvement of national methane inventories. It strengthened institutional capacity to engage with UNEP IMEO’s Methane Alert and Response System (MARS), improved understanding of methane emissions across the oil and gas sector, and informed more effective use of remote sensing data for climate and energy policy.
