Project description

This Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) project, commissioned by Växjö Energi AB for its Sandviksverket cogeneration plant in Växjö, Sweden, aims to assess the environmental impact of installing a carbon capture system to reduce annual biogenic CO₂ emissions, with permanent storage planned in Northern Europe. Using ISO 14040/14044 standards, the LCA estimates net CO₂ removals, supporting Växjö Energi’s goal to sell Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) credits on carbon markets. The study concludes that the project’s development, design, and implementation would provide negative CO2 emissions as well as the necessary documentation required for future carbon credits trading and regulatory compliance.
