Training description

Not every emission reduction opportunity makes a viable carbon credit project, and identifying the strongest candidates early saves significant time and money.

Content: This training provides a practical introduction to screening carbon credit projects. It covers how to move from a long list of mitigation opportunities to a shortlist of projects ready for development.

Designed for project developers, investors and asset owners building or reviewing a project pipeline, the training explains how to assess eligibility and methodology fit, test additionality, and evaluate the likelihood of host-country approval and authorization. It also shows how to gauge buyer demand and price. Real screening case studies and hands-on exercises show how these steps work in practice, from risk assessment to preparing a Project Idea Note.

Learning outcome: By the end of the training, participants will be able to apply a structured screening approach, compare project opportunities, and make informed decisions on where to invest development effort.

Who is this for: Project developers, investors and asset owners

Format: This training is available in-person or virtual.
