Training description

The EU Methane Regulation is reshaping expectations around methane emissions management across global coal supply chains.

Content: This module introduces the EU Methane Regulation (EUMR), its objectives, scope, and implementation timeline. Participants will learn why methane reduction has become a priority within EU climate policy, how the regulation applies to coal produced both inside and outside the European Union, and what key milestones importers, producers, and exporters should anticipate.

The module also provides an overview of the regulation's structure, including methane monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) requirements, methane intensity provisions, and key obligations affecting coal products placed on the EU market. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the regulatory framework and its implications for future market access and compliance.

Format: Self-paced online learning (pre-recorded lectures and quizzes) followed by a 1.5-hour live interactive session with an expert trainer.

Language: Self-paced online materials are available in English. The live interactive session can be delivered in English and Spanish, with French and Russian available on request.
