Training description

The value of a carbon credit depends on the integrity of the emission reductions behind it, and buyers, standards and host countries are raising the bar.

Content: This training provides a practical introduction to environmental integrity. It covers the core attributes of a high-quality carbon credit: real, conservative, additional, permanent, verified and not double counted.

Designed for teams that develop, assess or buy carbon credits, the training explains how baselines are set and additionality is demonstrated. It shows how Article 6 is driving stricter approaches, such as baselines set below business-as-usual. It also covers how double counting is avoided between countries and companies. It introduces the main quality benchmarks shaping the market, including the Integrity Council's Core Carbon Principles, CORSIA eligibility and independent ratings agencies.

Learning outcome: By the end of the training, participants will understand the key principles of high-integrity carbon credits, recognize common integrity risks, and be equipped to assess the quality and value of carbon credits.

Who is this for: Teams that develop, assess or buy carbon credits

Format: This training is available in-person or virtual.
