Project description

This project will contribute to the development of a new political and legal framework for climate change mitigation activities in Uzbekistan by undertaking a scoping study for the development of a carbon market. The project’s objectives are:

•  to summarize relevant international experience to identify and elaborate on carbon market options, including a discussion of options for market structuring, institutional organization and governance
• to analyse the situation in Uzbekistan and international relationships (including assessment of GHG emission reduction potential by sector and impact, and assessment of costs/benefits under carbon price level scenarios), and provide recommendations for the Uzbekistan economy by identifying the most promising carbon market options 
• to prepare a road map to Uzbekistan carbon market scheme and provide recommendations for potential capacity building activities to support carbon market development in the country
