A GHG emissions inventory tool was previously developed by Carbon Limits for a client to produce inventories from activity data using the GHG Protocol methodology. To comply with new ESRS and CSRD requirements and anticipate future reporting needs, we conduct a comprehensive review of the tool and its methodology, and implement key updates. These include enhancing Scope 2 reporting to include location-based and market-based approaches, and introducing separate calculations for biogenic CO₂ emissions as well as cloud computing and data center services. We also differentiate Scope 1 and 2 emissions for consolidated entities and investees, improve Scope 3 transparency, and add new services with associated emission factors. In addition, we update the methodology report to reflect these changes. The result is a robust, compliant tool that enables accurate reporting and supports strategic planning.
