Technical and Regulatory Review of CCU Recovery Methods and Use of CO2

Project description
Several CCU technologies and value chains are currently being developed, and the reliance on bioCO2 for some of those chains is expected to be high in the future. As such, Carbon Limits and E-Cube conducted a study on the bioCO2 availability and potential in France and the review of current CO2 utilization markets along with 13 different potential CO2 valorization value chains. Both studies were delivered to a consortium of French industrial actors, ClubCO2.
In the study about CO2 utilization, 34 key indicators split by theme (technical, economic, and environmental aspects) were assessed for each pathway, and a review of regulations, reporting standards, and incentive frameworks at European and French levels was conducted. Then, potential barriers and levers were identified for each valorization pathway. Based on that assessment, a workshop with ClubCO2 members was organized to determine potential actions to facilitate the implementation of CCU in France. 6 Roadmaps were created.
