Project description

As part of the Carbon Credit Quality Initiative (CCQI), Oeko-Institute was contracted by EDF to demonstrate the application of a methodology for assessing the quality of different carbon credits. Carbon Limits supported CCQI in the following:

  • Leading the application to improved cookstove, renewable energy and avoided methane methodologies across CDM, VCS and Gold Standard.
  • Validate the assessments conducted by other researchers on additionality, governance, and specific analysis of forestry and land-fill gas methodologies.
  • Stress-test the methodology for the assigned quality objectives, criteria and sub-criteria by scrutinizing their robustness and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Review of governance criteria analysis for Gold Standard and VCS.
