Rwanda Carbon Crediting Pilot under Paris Agreement Framework

Project description
Carbon Limits supported Rwanda and the World Bank in piloting Paris Agreement crediting. On 15 November 2018, the Rwandan government formally launched the “Standardized Crediting Framework (SCF) Pilot”, an initiative supported by the World Bank’s Carbon Initiative for Development (Ci-Dev) to develop innovative tools that enabled energy access in poor countries using international carbon markets under the Paris Agreement. This was the second SCF Pilot—after the first in Senegal, launched in July 2017 with support from Carbon Limits and partners Climate Focus. The Rwanda SCF Pilot focused on improved cookstoves and developed a crediting program based on the Inyenyeri Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Program of Activities (PoA), which provided high quality gasification cookstoves and sustainable wood fuel briquettes to households.
