Carbon Limits assessed the efficiency of the offsetting mechanism which complements the carbon tax introduced in Colombia. Through economic modelling and regulatory analysis, the team developed recommendations of how the mechanism may be enhanced to increase the uptake of the offsetting opportunities in the country. We evaluated the associated impact on the Colombia’s public revenue and spending, including an analysis of the MRV approaches applied to the carbon offsetting mechanism.
