Pakistan - Baseline Study for GHG Emission from Sewered and Non-sewered Sanitation Sector

Project description

Carbon Limits, in collaboration with Carbon Smart Growth, is conducting a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) assessment of the sanitation sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. Commissioned by UNICEF, the project aims to quantify methane and nitrous oxide emissions from both sewered and non-sewered sanitation systems and explore mitigation opportunities through technology screening and carbon financing.

  • Development of a model to calculate the Tier 2 GHG emissions inventory for the sanitation sector that can be replicated throughout Pakistan.
  • Identification of emission reduction technologies for the sanitation sector.
  • Quantification of potential emission reductions from technologies to assess carbon credit potential.
