Project description

Carbon Limits participated in the piloting phase of the International Initiative for Development of Article 6 Methodology Tools (II-AMT), led by Perspectives Climate Research. The assignment involved testing the practical application of tools for additionality, baseline setting, and MRV, using a draft methodology for early retirement of coal-fired power plants in Southeast Asia. The assessment focused on alignment with the evolving Article 6 framework, testing various baseline approaches (including historical emissions and ambitious benchmarks), and evaluating risks related to emissions lock-in and regulatory or financial additionality. Carbon Limits provided critical input on methodological robustness, NDC alignment, and the need for conservative emission trajectories consistent with long-term decarbonization goals.
