High-level carbon credit opportunity assessment for fertilizer plant fuel switch to biomass

Project description

The client is investigating the potential to convert an existing fertilizer production facility from the use of heavy fuel oil to biomass for the production of heat. The client has no prior experience of generating or selling carbon credits. The objective of the client is to determine the best approach to generating carbon credits from the fertilizer facility. The main goal of this study is to present the key technical and practical considerations related to the generation and sale of carbon credits.

Carbon limits provided an evaluation of the key considerations for generating saleable carbon credits from the fertilizer facility. The report offers actionable recommendations to the client on how to move forward with this opportunity. The report covers the following elements:

  • Introduction to international carbon markets
  • Standards and methodology assessment
  • Baseline assessment and emission reduction potential
  • Strategic decisions on monetization of carbon credits
  • Implementation roadmap
