Emission Trading System Trainings for Regulated Sectors in Mexico

Project description
The implementation of the emissions trading system (ETS) pilot programme in Mexico generated a number of lessons learned and highlighted the need for capacity building among regulated entities in preparation for the future operational phases of the system.
In this context, Carbon Limits was contracted to design and deliver a virtual ETS training programme for approximately 800 participants from the 12 regulated sectors in Mexico.
The training addressed key concerns raised by companies to the responsible authority (the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, SEMARNAT). It consisted of more than 20 sessions at basic and intermediate–advanced levels, delivered by national and international experts. Topics covered included emissions trading, MRV systems, and organizational preparedness (e.g. carbon portfolio management).
