Project description

Carbon Limits was tasked to develop a generic Nordic Initiative on Cooperative Approaches (NICA)/Nordic Article 6 framework/approach in line with the Nordic priorities in close collaboration with the relevant Nordic stakeholders, including the private sector. This Included guidance on the implementation of sustainable development provisions for Article 6 and applying those to potential pilot activities.

The team

• Assessed an approach to blend climate and carbon finance and subsequent attribution of emission reductions 
• Developed templates for country-to-country framework agreements and Mitigation Outcome Purchase Agreements (MOPAs) for use in possible NICA pilots and beyond.
• Updated and documented the status and interest of additional, potential host countries for Article 6 activities. 
• Disseminated Article 6 policy developments and opportunities to relevant stakeholders via a workshop and a summary report.
