CL signed a contract with Masdar to join forces in developing a CDM unit in Abu Dhabi, and through this unit identify and develop CDM projects primarily in the Gulf region, North Africa, Iran and Central Asia. CL provided 4 staff members to assignment for an initiation phase. Carbon Limits was responsible for screening, evaluation and development of CDM project opportunities within a range of sectors in the Middle East. Focus was on power generation, oil and gas production, refining/processing and distribution and energy efficiency (both demand and supply side). Two of the CDM projects identified has been successfully registered, of which one is an energy efficiency project within a power plant in Abu Dhabi (140,000 CERs/year).
