CCUS KPIs – Current projects’ data review

The Sustainable CCUS value chain team in TOTAL has defined a set of 45 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the performance of Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) projects. These KPIs are separated in 4 families of KPIs focusing on performance with regards to the CO2 emission reduction, the production of product X, the CCUS chain efficiency and for CO2 to Y subsystem, the conversion efficiency. These KPIs cover technical, economic, environmental, financial and social aspects.

TOTAL asked Carbon Limits to assess the feasibility of estimating these KPIs when applied to 18 currently running CCUS projects worldwide. Carbon Limits listed the inputs required, reviewed the public literature and interviewed projects proponents, and summarized the collected information in a data gap matrix to conclude on the feasibility of assessing these KPIs for the projects reviewed.
