Emission Trading Systems

Carbon Limits experts have been supporting companies in operating under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and have in-depth understanding of the market dynamics, its structure, functioning, and the regulatory framework governing it. We are providing services to companies and governments in assessing the market conditions and helping individual installations with the fulfilment of their reporting obligations.

Building on the experience of EU ETS, Carbon Limits is also advising emerging emission trading schemes and governments that are considering introducing an ETS as a climate change mitigation measure. For example, during the past 4 years, our experts have been assisting the government of Kazakhstan with the set-up of the country’s ETS, training of the covered entities, and operation of the MRV system. We have also worked in Ukraine, where we have helped in conceptualizing the first steps towards the set-up of a trading scheme under the World Bank’s Partnership for Market Readiness.
