Carbon Limits supports Sri Lanka MRV framework for energy sector NAMAs

As part of a GEF funded UNDP Project, Carbon Limits has started working with UNDP, Sri Lanka’s Climate Change Secretariat and the Sustainable Energy Authority to establish monitoring, reporting and verification framework for the energy sector, including the theoretical basis, practical guidelines, monitoring tools, reporting procedures and data management protocols.

The first MRV workshop was held in Colombo on the last week of November, where several energy sector experts, members of academia and responsible staff from government authorities participated. The workshop included presentation of the results of numerous previous working sessions, as well as capacity building material with regards to concepts of MRV, uncertainty assessment, and greenhouse gas accounting in the context of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs).
